City offices closed in recognition of Memorial Day

City Hall, Public Works, the Senior Activity Center, the Indoor Pool and Portsmouth Public Schools will be closed on Monday, May 27th in recognition of Memorial Day. The Library will be closed over the entire weekend (May 25th – May 27th) and will continue to be closed on Sundays during the summer until after Labor Day weekend. Curbside collection will not occur on Memorial Day; those with scheduled curbside collection on Monday will have pickup on Tuesday, May 28th. 

To commemorate Memorial Day, a laying of flowers will occur on Friday, May 24th, at 10:00 a.m., in Prescott Park. On Memorial Day, the parade is scheduled for Monday, May 27th, at 1:00 p.m. The parade will be stepping off at 1:00 p.m. from the Parrott Avenue parking lot and will conclude at South Street Cemetery. If there is rain on either Friday or Monday, the ceremonies will be held instead at the American Legion Hall at 96 Islington Street at the scheduled time of the event.
