The Blue Ribbon Committee on Arts and Non-profits was created on January 11, 2021 to respond to the needs of arts and culture nonprofits during the reopening and recovery phases ahead.

The Committee was continued by the City Council in January 2022 with a continued mission to support the arts and non-profits who make up Portsmouth's cultural economy and impact Portsmouth's economy as a whole. Specifically, the committee is currently working on several of the recommendations made in its December 2021 report to Council:

• 6th Americans for the Arts Survey -- see link below.
• Go Out Portsmouth! marketing campaign (pilot conducted in early 2022)
• Updating the Cultural Plan which was created in 2002. Go to Cultural Plan Subcommittee page for more information and to volunteer.
• Support for individual artists
