The Geographic Information System (GIS) program has been active in Portsmouth NH since the 1990’s. In addition to digital records, the GIS group manages an extensive inventory of maps, plans and figures which date back to the late 1700’s. These records are accessible upon request.

Data Requests

The City of Portsmouth creates and maintains extensive GIS databases to support citywide operations. This data is made available upon request to city employees, the public and commercial entities.

Map Production

The GIS Program provides cartographic services to supplement the capacity of individual departments as well as the immediate needs of departments without internal GIS capacity. Standard and custom maps can be produced for the public and commercial entities. Please review the fee schedule for specific costs of products.

MapGeo is a web based application that provides public access to a variety of geographic layers and data including but not limited to parcels, zoning, wetlands, school districts, voting wards and trash routes.

Portsmouth’s GIS Program is responsible for managing the city's geographic information systems (GIS): hardware, software, and applications that allow staff to create, store, manage, access, visualize and use geographic information. The GIS Program staff collaborate with all departments of the city to eliminate redundancy in dataset creation and maintenance and to provide easy access to data for city personnel and officials.
