City Hall Reopens June 1 with New Procedures in Place

May 20, 2020

City Manager Karen Conard has announced that City Hall will reopen to the public on Monday, June 1.

City Hall hours are as follows: Mon 8 am - 6 pm; Tues-Thurs 8 am - 4:30 pm; Fri 8 am - 1 pm. NOTE: City Council, Board and Commission meetings continue as virtual meetings.

When it opens, City Hall will be limited to 50 percent occupancy. Walk-ins will be greeted at the front door, with new protocols in place, which include:

  • Visitors will be required to wear a cloth mask while in City Hall.
  • Masks will be provided if the visitor does not bring one.
  • If the department the visitor wants to visit is already at capacity, that person will be asked to wait in a physical-distancing queue in the Portsmouth Room, adjacent to City Council Chambers.
  • Appointments are still recommended. Priority will be given to seniors and immune-impaired residents for appointments.

The following signage will be placed at the entrance to all City facilities:

ATTENTION ALL VISITORS:

For your health and the health of others, we require that you please use hand sanitizer upon arriving AND wear a face mask while in the building.  Occupancy of the facility may be limited, and visitors are strongly encouraged to call ahead for appointments. Call 431-2000 and ask to speak with the department you wish to meet with. Alternative arrangements may be made for service outside of the building on an as-needed basis. All visitors are required to check in with the reception prior to proceeding. Entry may be refused to visitors due to occupancy restrictions, availability of staffing, and/or other extenuating circumstances. Thank you, in advance, for your patience and cooperation.
