Drop In Art

Third Saturdays

January – March

10 AM – 12 PM

Do you like to draw? Do you want to practice making art in a welcoming, judgement-free zone? This year, Portsmouth Public Library will host a monthly “Drop In Art” session in the Levenson Room. Drop in any time between 10 AM and 12 PM on the third Saturday of any month, January – March, to take part. If you’ve always missed the Art Room from your school days, this is the event for you.

The library will offer drawing prompts and props for inspiration. Borrow paper, pencils, colored pencils, crayons, markers, and collage supplies from us, or bring your own materials. This program is FREE and open to people of all ages!

Each month will have an optional theme which ties in with other programming at the library. You’re welcome to join in, or just bring your own projects to work on!

January 19: Book-Inspired Art
Part of our Community Art Project with 3S Artspace on A Field Guide to Getting Lost by Rebecca Solnit. Read the book and come create, or just use prompts from the book – then bring anything you create to 3S Artspace to be displayed during February!

February 16: Make An Album Cover
Ever wanted to make an album? Well now you can design your cover! See lots of fabulous inspiration – and once you’ve made something, we’ll scan it for you! Part of our programming for the RPM Challenge.

March 16: Plants & Animals
Draw from books or life – we’ll have plenty of plants and maybe even an animal or two!

Please note that children under 10 must be supervised by an adult at all times in the library.
