The week of May 1-7, 2022 is National Drinking Water Week and the City of Portsmouth and Safe Water Advisory Group are presenting a free Community Water Forum on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 6 to 8 pm in City Hall Council Chambers. The public is also able to participate via Zoom, with advance registration.

The Water Forum is an interactive opportunity to learn about how the City ensures a safe drinking water system and will cover topics including:

  • History of Portsmouth’s Drinking Water System
  • Water Sources and Quality
  • Contaminants of Concern
  • Water Efficiency
  • Plans for protecting City of Portsmouth water for the future

The public will also be able to participate in real-time polling and to ask questions of the City’s Department of Public Works Water Division staff and members of the Safe Water Advisory Group.

The Safe Water Advisory Group was established by the City Council in October 2020 to review and communicate the latest science on the health and environmental effects of PFAS, to monitor federal and state level legislative changes, and to anticipate policy changes that could impact the city of Portsmouth.
