PROJECT UPDATE NOTICE

The Portsmouth Department of Public Works Water Division will be shutting down the water main on Bartlett Street, Morning Street, and Woodbury Avenue (Boyd Street to Bartlett Street) Friday May 3, 2024, between 9 am and 2 pm.

If there is a delay due to weather, the shutdown will be conducted on the following business day, Monday May 6. Project contractor Albanese D&S, Inc. will install a new in-line gate valve at the intersection of Woodbury Avenue and Bartlett Street as part of the Bartlett Street Area Reconstruction Project. After the water is turned back on, you may experience discolored water from your taps. Please run the COLD water for 10-15 minutes to clear out any discoloration.

On Monday May 6, Albanese D&S will start daily closures, 7 am to 5 pm, of Bartlett Street between Woodbury Ave. and Hodgdon Brook. There will be a detour in place and the road will be re-opened every night.

Access to properties within the construction zone will be provided.

Project Description:

This project includes the reconstruction of underground public utilities (water, sewer, drainage) on Bartlett Street from Hodgdon Brook to Dennett Street, and Thornton Street from Woodbury Avenue to Bartlett Street. This will also include connections to existing utilities on side streets of Morning Street, Clinton Street, Pine Street, Meredith Way and Woodbury Ave. The project also consists of reconstructing the streetscape, including curbing, sidewalks, reconstructing the roadway and traffic calming measures.
