Public Meeting on Outer Islington Street sidewalk project Tuesday, January 23rd

January 23, 2018

The City will be holding a public meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd at 6:30 p.m. at the Department of Public Works Building at 680 Peverly Hill Road. The Outer Islington Street sidewalk project between Plains Avenue and Essex Avenue that started construction on last fall is scheduled to be completed this Spring. The City is now considering extending the limits of this project to include the area from Essex Avenue to Rutland Street (indicated below). Work would include narrowing the roadway to the width of the first section for consistency of design, replacement of the existing paved sidewalk on the south side with a new concrete sidewalk and the possible removal of the remnant asphalt sidewalk on the north side. The City would like to speak to nearby residents to receive feedback prior to making a decision.

Anyone with questions should contact Project Design Engineer Marc Batchelder at 498-8449 mbatchelder@seaporteng.com or the Department of Public Works project manager, David Desfosses, at 766-1411 djdesfosses@cityofportsmouth.com.
