Mad Science: Crazy Chem Works
In this program, children make gooey slime, experiment with different reactions, and learn to use the tools that chemists use. Polymers and catalysts are only two of the fascinating concepts young scientists explore in this thrilling trip through the chemistry lab! At the end of every class, they take home an educational toy that extends the learning experience. 3:00-4:00pm.

How the Grinch Stole Bricks
In this workshop, students will immerse themselves in the city of Whoville and the story of the Grinch! They will design machines to help the Grinch with his sneaky mission to ruin Christmas, build the city of Whoville, and create sleds to get from the top of Mt. Crumpit down to the city of Whoville! No matter what the Grinch says, it’s going to be a blast!

ForestKids NATURETHURSDAYS is a Nature Immersion Afterschool Enrichment program at Urban Forestry. All classes are mixed ages and open to all children in grades K thru 5. Residents and non-residents welcome.

These all-outdoor nature immersion classes include engaging interactive lessons on wildlife, tree, mushroom and plant ID, hiking, forest exploration, fort-building, science with a nature focus, tree climbing, confidence and collaboration-building games and more! We'll do nature sketching, learn about the creatures in our forest, catch snakes and frogs and find out about the myriad of birds and animals that fill our woods and marsh.

American Red Cross Babysitter Training
American Red Cross Babysitter Training program is designed to provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge & skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. Participants will learn leadership skills and basic childcare, tips to develop a babysitting business, how to keep themselves and others safe, and hints to help children behave. This class includes Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification. Attendance at all classes is required. Ages 11-15.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING - American Red Cross
Blended Learning Lifeguard Training
Course length: 19 hours, 30 minutes in-person and 7 hours 30 minutes online. Total - 27 hours
Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.
Prerequisites:
- Minimum age: 15 years;
- Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest:
- Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface and then swim 150 years using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. (Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed)
- Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs.
- Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.
- Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds:
- Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. (The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed)
- Submerge to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
- Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face out at or near the surface.
- Exit the water without using a ladder or steps
To successfully complete the Lifeguarding Blended Learning course, the participant must:
- Attend the entire course and participate in all class sessions.
- Actively participate in all course activities, including assuming various roles during scenarios.
- Demonstrate competency in all required skills.
- Pass the final skills scenarios.
- Complete all eLearning content, including the eLearning written exam (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers ;and First Aid).
- Successfully pass final written exams with a minimum grade of 80 percent.
Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years.

AMERICAN RED CROSS WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR (WSI) – BLENDED LEARNING
This course trains instructor candidates to teach classes in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program. Ages: 15+ welcome.

- PREREQUISITES FOR THE WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR (WSI) CLASS:
To take part of the Water Safety Instructor course, the student must be a minimum age of 16. Demonstrate swimming skills consistent with the Stroke Performance Charts, Level 4, by swimming the following strokes:
- Front Crawl – 25 yards
- Back Crawl – 25 yards
- Breaststroke – 25 yards
- Elementary backstroke – 25 yards
- Sidestroke – 25 yards
- Butterfly – 15 yards
- Maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling)
- Tread water for 1 minute
The Blended Learning content consists of 23hrs of in-class work and 7 hours of at home online study.
Upon successful completion of the Water Safety Instructor (WSI) course, candidates will receive an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification valid for 2 years.
