Camp FunStuff

Registration: May 28 - 31 5:00-8:00 pm at the Connie Bean Recreation Center for Portsmouth Residents.

All eligible non-residents may begin registration on Thursday, May 30.

Beginning Monday, June 3 all registrations will be done at the Spinnaker Point Recreation Center.

Early Drop Off!  Children may be dropped off between 7:30 - 8:30 am for an additional $25 per week.

Camp FunStuff is an all day program consisting of organized games, group activities, sports, swimming, special events, field trips, arts & crafts and much more.  The mornings will be filled with scheduled group activities with all afternoons (except for the all day field trips) spent at Peirce Island Pool, Fort Foster,  New Castle Commons or Wallis Sands Beach.  Rainy days will bring activities into the school gym for movies, board games and crafts available for all campers to use. 

Camp fee includes T-shirt, weekly field trips and bus transportation.

Brief Description: This camp is for children who want to learn and play a variety of sportsCampers will play different sports throughout the morning, including touch football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, kickball, and have a trip each afternoon to the Peirce Island Pool for a swim. Different fields and locations will be used with the City Recreation Bus as needed.  Campers should bring a snack, water and lunch daily.  We've now added weekly sports-themed field trips!

We've added four days of field trips for kids entering grades 1-6 to our summer schedule to help parents now that school is ending on Friday, June 14.

Schedule:

Monday, June 17- Funtown, USA (Saco, ME) - $40

Tuesday, June 18 - In The Game (Peabody, MA) - $45

Wednesday, June 19 - York's Wild Kingdom (York, ME) - $35

Thursday, June 20 - Hilltop Fun Center/Bowl-o-Rama (Somersworth/Portsmouth) - $40

 

There is one time t-shirt fee of $7 per child.

Youth Baseball/Softball

Ages:  Boys/Girls 5-6 years old as of July 31, 2019

Days:  Mondays & Wednesdays

Dates: June 24 - July 24

Time:  9:00 - 10:00 am   

Location: Leary Field

Fee: Residents $35; eligible non-residents $55. Includes t-shirt and hat

Brief Description: The Youth Baseball Program is designed for children to have fun and learn the fundamentals of baseball.  Each day will focus on fun drills to enhance skill development and end with a small baseball game using a whiffle ball and/or soft t-ball.  The program is co-sponsored by Marshall Rental Center.

Multi-Sport

Ages:  Boys/Girls 7-11 years old

Days: Mondays & Wednesdays

Dates: June 24 - July 24

Time:  10:30 - 11:45 am

Fee: Residents $35; eligible non-residents $55.  Fee includes t-shirt and hat

Brief Description:  Each week a new sport is introduced with children breaking up into teams for instructional skills and games.  Scheduled sports are basketball, flag football, soccer, volleyball, street hockey, ultimate Frisbee and more!  Multi-sport is a non-competitive and fun program where all participants play an equal amount of time.  No experience is required as skills will be taught.

Ages: Boys/Girls 4-5 years of age as of July 31, 2019

Brief Description: This program is for Pre-K children and is designed to learn the basic fundamentals of soccer and participate in fun games. The emphasis will be on teaching and participation with plenty of encouragement!

Soccer Skillz

Ages:  Boys/Girls 6-11 years old

Days:  Tuesdays & Thursdays

Dates: June 25 - July 25

Time:  10:15 - 11:15 am

Fee: Residents $35; eligible non-residents $55. Fee includes t-shirt/socks/shin guards

Brief Description: Learn the basic soccer skills in a relaxed and fun environment.  Emphasis will be on increasing soccer skills and learning fundamentals by getting the kids to have as many touches as they can with the ball every session.  Each day will begin with fun soccer drills and end with a small soccer game. Please bring plenty of water and enthusiasm.

LEGO® Robotics Camp

LEGO® Build & Code

FEE: $105

Participants will work with LEGO® WeDo 2.0 and LEGO® Mindstorms to explore and produce a variety of working models.

Grades:  1-6           Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm

Minimum 8 - Maximum 20

Session Two:

Video Game Designer

FEE: $115

Stop playing video games and start creating them! In this introductory class, participants will learn how to program and create their very own video games. We will learn how to create sprites, objects, levels, backgrounds, sound effects and much more as we create several games that can be shared with family and friends!

Grades:  3-6      Time: 12:30 - 3:30 pm

Minimum 8 - Maximum 16

Ages: Boys/Girls 6 and up

Camp Dates:  July 15-18, 9:00am-12:00pm

Location:  Firefly Pottery, 72 Mirona Road, Portsmouth

Fee: $100, Includes all class materials needed and a small snack.

Camp Size:  Limited to 20

Brief Description:  We will learn fun painting techniques to make our own Swirly Ice Cream Bowl and a Fun in the Sun Platter with Dip Bowl. We'll learn Glass Fusion to make a Lighthouse or Palm Tree Scene. We'll get in the mud and make a cool Tide Pool with Sea Life out of real clay! Our paint is washable and non-toxic and we'll have fun exploring Summer Time!

Exploring Our World! Firefly Pottery Camp

Brief Description: The world has so many beautiful places to explore... we'll go deep under the sea to paint our Ocean Bowl and then shoot into outer space for our Galaxy Platter and Shooting Star Bowl! The hot desert is inspiration for a Desert Life Glass Fusion piece. Deep in the jungle are Fierce Creatures that we can sculpt from real clay! Our paint is washable and non-toxic. Come play!

Preseason Conditioning for Middle School Athletes

 

Portsmouth Middle School Assistant Cross Country Coach Mike ‘Eli’ Eliasberg will be offering a structured running program for middle school students.  The program will run three nights per week, beginning in early August. Exact schedule is TBA.  Runners will meet at Portsmouth High School (Come ready to run).

Cost is Free.
