POSITION TITLE: Prescott Park Foreman
CLASSIFICATION LEVEL: 13
SALARY RANGE: $54,474.88 to $66,102.10
QUALIFICATIONS: A candidate for this position should have an Associate’s Degree in Parks Management, Horticulture, Green Industry Technology, Landscaping, or a related field, and five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A candidate must have a valid CDL class B driver’s license. A candidate for this position should have a strong knowledge of maintenance, repair, and construction techniques and regulations as they pertain to the department, including knowledge of, irrigation systems and turf management, drainage, landscaping, and snow removal operations. A candidate should have or learn the laws, regulations, inspections, tests, and codes as they pertain to department operations. A candidate should have the ability to work independently, use judgment in decision-making, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, supervise and communicate effectively, read blueprints, operate machinery, vehicles, and equipment used by the department. A candidate should have the ability to prepare and work within an annual operating budget, develop policies and procedures, apply and enforce all applicable laws, regulations, and codes. A candidate should remain abreast of new ideas and information in the field. A candidate for this position must have computer skills and mathematical skills to estimate job costs and monitor budget expenditures and balances; and strong administrative, troubleshooting, problem solving, and customer service skills.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Position performs responsible administrative and professional work planning, organization and management of Prescott Park’s grounds operations as well as provide support for the Park’s programs. The position has considerable responsibility in recommending and overseeing the maintenance and improvement of the Park’s playgrounds, recreation areas, cemeteries, trails, open space, grounds, medians, landscapes and streetscapes. Position is responsible for the planning, assigning, and supervising of work crews and equipment as deemed necessary. Position is responsible for the direct supervision of fulltime , part-time and and seasonal employees, and may supervise staff from other Public Works Divisions if needed. Employees work different shifts and at different locations. Incumbent trains and evaluates employees and provides input for the discipline, hiring and firing of employees. Workload fluctuates unpredictably throughout the year. Incumbent is on-call for emergencies.
SCOPE OF EXAMINATION:
Competitive Examination which includes a personal interview.
