Youth2Youth Empowerment Group

Ms. Birse-Siegel, Ms. Bouzakine

The Portsmouth Middle School Youth to Youth (Y2Y) group offers students a tremendous opportunity for personal growth, gaining knowledge, skill building and taking action in their community. Through a partnership with the United Way’s Granite Youth Alliance and Dover Youth to Youth (www.DoverY2Y.org) which has been in existence since 1992, Portsmouth Middle School will create its own youth empowerment group open to all 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. With an emphasis on drug and alcohol awareness and prevention, Portsmouth Youth to Youth will take part in presentations to area elementary schools, community awareness activities and media (including radio spots and short student-made film). Group meetings will be conducted after-school in the health room from 3:15pm to 4pm once a week or every other week depending on the group project during the months of October - April. The late bus will be available to drive students home. Portsmouth Youth to Youth will have our first meeting on Wednesday, November 3rd after-school at 3:15 pm in the health room. Any potentially interested 6th, 7th and 8th graders are encouraged to attend and check it out.
