State to host public meeting on Wednesday, March 14th to discuss railroad crossing replacements on Barberry Lane and Green Street

March 14, 2018

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation’s contractor, Northeast Earth Mechanics, Inc. of Pittsfield, NH will soon be reconstructing the railroad crossings on both Barberry Lane and Green Street. The project is tentatively scheduled to start around April 2nd and will be ongoing through the end of May, with a final contract completion date of August 17, 2018.

There will be times when the roadway at the crossing will be shut down, as the existing track needs to be completely removed and replaced.  Access to your property/business will be maintained as much as possible, but there will be construction activity and equipment close by and minor delays at times. Barberry Lane residents will be directed to use a temporary access to Route 1 Bypass along the power line easement during the work.

During working hours there may be noisy machinery working to remove bedrock, install utilities, reconstruct the track and pave the road. However, it is not anticipated that loud equipment will be working after 7 PM.

Nearby and interested residents are invited to attend a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14th at the Department of Public Works to discuss the project’s details and bring up any concerns you might have.

If you cannot make the meeting and have any questions or concerns, please contact (603) 312-0342 or at stephen.piper@dot.nh.gov.
