Market Street Phase 2 improvements will begin with tree removal operations near Sarah Mildred Long Bridge

February 25, 2019

Public Works crews will be removing trees in the area across the street from the USS Albacore Museum, spanning the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge and Michael Succi Drive, starting on Monday, February 25th as part of the Phase 2 improvement plan for the Market Street corridor; this work will last a couple weeks.

Plans for this area include a public park area to allow for better use and views of the riverfront. The Parks and Greenery team are removing trees this time of year to reduce the chances of disturbing the soils in the area as the ground is currently frozen. This public park project will go out to bid soon with the expectation to start constructing the park and renovating the landscape in the summer of this year.
