Evaluation of Kearsarge Way Bridge to occur Monday, March 25th

March 25, 2019

Detailed inspections of the Kearsarge Way Bridge over the Pan Am railroad tracks is tentatively scheduled to be conducted on Monday, March 25th, depending on weather conditions. Ground penetrating radar (GPR) scanning of the deck will be used to evaluate the condition of the concrete beneath the asphalt pavement, and concrete core samples will be collected to test the strength of the concrete. This work will be conducted from the deck level, with personnel occupying one lane of the bridge for the duration of the work. Vehicles will be limited to a single lane of alternating one-way traffic across the bridge. Flaggers and signage will be present on either end of the bridge to direct traffic.  Users of the bridge should expect minor delays during this time.

Should weather conditions prevent the work from being completed on the scheduled day, the inspections will be rescheduled and another press release will be issued with the new date. This work is being completed as part of the City’s Bridge Capital Improvement Program.
