City Announces Routine Inspection of Peirce Island Road Bridge November 25

November 20, 2019

Portsmouth, New Hampshire – The Department of Public Works announces that in conjunction with the ongoing Peirce Island Wastewater Treatment Facility upgrade a routine inspection of the Peirce Island Road Bridge will be conducted on Monday, November 25th. This work involves a visual inspection of components of the bridge including the superstructure, deck, railing system and above-water portions of the abutments and piers.

The inspection is conducted using an under-bridge inspection vehicle that will occupy one lane of the bridge deck for the majority of the inspection. This will limit vehicles to a single lane of one-way traffic across the bridge and cause minor delays. Traffic flaggers will be stationed at each end of the bridge to direct traffic.

For more information on the inspection, contact Terry Desmarais, P.E. City Engineer at 603-766-1421 or tldesmarais@cityofportsmouth.com
