Two Promotions to Detective

On Tuesday, October 26th, 2021, the Board of Police Commissioners voted unanimously to promote Officer Charley Raizes and Officer Matt Fredrickson to the Special Detail position of Detective assigned to the Investigative Division. Their appointment became effective immediately. 

 

Charley Raizes is a 16-year veteran of the Portsmouth Police Department.  He has spent his entire career in the Patrol Division, most recently as a Master Patrol Officer.  Detective Raizes has served as a Field Training Officer, Motorcycle Officer, and on the Portsmouth Police Honor Guard.  He is currently an Assistant Team Leader on the Seacoast Emergency Response Team (SERT), a steward on the Portsmouth Police Patrol Officers Union (NEPBA Local 11), a Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics/Use of Force Instructor, and a Driving Instructor.  Detective Raizes is also a recipient of the Portsmouth Police Department Life Saving Medal and the Medal of Valor.  He currently resides in the seacoast area with his wife and two children.

 

A Portsmouth native, Matt Fredrickson was born and raised on the former Pease Air Force Base and is a graduate of York High School and the University of Maine at Machias. Matt began his career in law enforcement in December of 2009 with the Portsmouth Police Department. In addition to his patrol duties, Matt also currently serves as a driving instructor and member of both the PPD Drone Unit and PPRA Pipe and Drum Band. Detective Fredrickson is extremely grateful to work with the men and women of the Portsmouth Police Department and for the love and support of his family and friends.
