NH ICAC ESD K-9

July 7, 2020

The NH Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force is pleased to announce and introduce to you K-9 Niko, NH ICAC’s first ever Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) K-9. ESD K-9s are capable of detecting and finding electronics such as cell phones, computers, flash drives, hard drives, SD cards and even micro SD cards. These specialized K-9s are being deployed throughout the country and are being utilized for search warrants at the homes of suspected child pornographers. ESD K-9’s are also trained to work side by side with investigators to reduce stress when working on these difficult cases. Even more importantly, they are being introduced to the child victims inside the homes being searched to help reduce trauma.

K-9 Niko’s role in NH will be to assist and support NH ICAC with its mission to protect children. K-9 Niko, along with his handler Deputy Matt Fleming from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, will be assisting with searches as well as conducting public demonstrations and helping get the word out about internet safety.

Released by Lieutenant John Peracchi, Commander of the NH ICAC, for Chief Robert Merner of the Portsmouth Police Department
