     The Portsmouth Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of 264 Elwyn Road at 11:43 PM on May 8th for a report of a rollover motor vehicle crash. First responders arrived to find 2016 Jeep Cherokee on its roof in the middle of Elwyn Road.

      The operator and lone occupant of the vehicle was on scene and identified as;

                                                David Duplessis (51 yoa)

                                               17 Frontier Road

                                                Rye NH

            Duplessis was evaluated on scene by the Portsmouth Fire Department but he refused medical transport. He had sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. Investigating officers on scene determined that the crash was caused when Duplessis’s vehicle left the roadway, struck a utility pole and came to rest on its roof.

            Officers also determined that Duplessis was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Field sobriety tests were administered and Duplessis was soon after placed under arrest. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. Duplessis declined bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Portsmouth Circuit Court on May 9th.

            As a result of the crash Elwyn Road had to be closed for utility repairs for several hours which impacted the morning commute.
