Seacoast LGBTQ History: Our Stories, Tuesday June 18

May 22, 2019

Local History Talk
Seacoast LGBTQ History: Our Stories
with Librarian Sarah Cornell

Tuesday June 18 | 7 PM

The Seacoast has been home to many LGBTQ individuals who contributed to local and national politics, religion, businesses, arts, and culture. Many of their stories have been forgotten, and some have never been told. Sarah Cornell will expand on anecdotes included in the Seacoast LGBT History Project's exhibit, on view from June 1 – 30 in the Levenson Community Room, and will share even more stories that reveal LGBTQ History in Southern New Hampshire.

Sarah Cornell is the library's liaison to the Seacoast LGBTQ History Project, which has been collecting artifacts, ephemera, and oral histories since 2015. These collections will be stored at the Portsmouth Athenaeum. Selections will be exhibited at the Athenaeum May 3 to July 6, and in the Portsmouth Public Library’s Levenson Room, June 1 – 30.
