The SAFE program is an interactive, two-hour workshop for food workers, taught by UNH Cooperative Extension Instructor Courtenay Simmons. Courtenay Simmons recently joined UNH Cooperative Extension as a Food Safety Field Specialist. In her role at Extension, Courtenay develops and provides programming for schools, retail, food processors, food service, consumers, and farms in Rockingham County and throughout the state. Courtenay’s work with the USDA Food and Nutrition Service Office of Food Safety as well as an educational background in food science and technology has prepared her to deliver adult education and training. Courtenay is excited to work with a range of clients in the New Hampshire food system to provide practical food safety education to help prevent foodborne illness.
This informative introductory program focuses on the importance of personal hygiene and controlling time, temperature, and cross contamination as food flows through your food service operation.
Attendees who successfully pass a test will receive their Food Handler's card. Special accommodations for the test can be provided for people with disabilities or languages other than English. This program is provided free of charge and is appropriate training for all food service professionals, from those who work in small pre-packaged stores to full-scale specialty restaurants.
