The Portsmouth Fire Department is celebrating the completion of the extensive renovations to its 127 International Drive fire station – also known as Station 3 – with an Open House Event on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
Station 3 was built in the late 1950s and originally served as the structural fire station for the Pease Air Force Base Fire Department. Turned over to the City in 1993 following the closure of the base, the fire house has proudly served as the City’s Fire Station 3 for almost 30 years.
With the support of the City Manager and City Council, the Fire Department undertook significant renovations to the station beginning in late 2017 to address physical building deficiencies to the apparatus bays, mechanical systems, offices, bathroom facilities, fire protection systems, and employee safety features. The project was completed for $633,000.00.
The members of the Fire Department would like to invite citizens, business owners, and workers of Portsmouth, especially those served by Station 3, to tour the renovated facility. Also on display will be Fire Engines 3, 4, and, the newest addition to the fleet: Rescue 7.
