CDBG Public Facility and Accessibility Improvements NonProfit Agency Grants Available

The Portsmouth Community Development Department is now accepting applications for the FY 2016-2017 Public Facility and Accessibility Improvements Grant Program. The funding for this program is provided by a Community Development Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Grants generally ranging from $15,000 - $50,000 will be based upon available funding and individual project needs. Projects that demonstrate ability to fully expend and meet CDBG programmatic requirements before June 30, 2017 will be given priority consideration.

Any non-profit organizations located in Portsmouth, has a 501(c)(3) non-profit taxexemption status, and offers services to Portsmouth clients is eligible to apply to this grant program. The program's goal is to make improvements at public facilities that are utilized primarily by low- to moderate- income persons and/or to remove architectural barriers that prevent individuals from obtaining services or employment at nonprofit facilities.

This is a competitive grant program and program funds available are limited. If granted, agencies expending federal funds will be required to comply with detailed eligibility criteria, procurement standards, labor and wage rate requirements and programmatic and financial reporting requirements. Additional information about these requirements can be provided upon request.

The deadline for submission of applications to the City of Portsmouth Community Development Department is 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016. In order to be considered for funding, applications must be received by that date and time.
