Three "tall ships" are coming to Portsmouth Harbor on Thursday, August 11 and staying through the weekend. They will arrive as part of the Parade of Sail up the Piscataqua River on Thursday morning (10"!5 am). Two of the ships will be open for tours at the Portsmouth Fish Pier Friday through Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM. They are Kalmar Nickel and Spirit of Bermuda. The topsail schooner Lynx will be giving day sails from the UNH Pier, New Castle starting with the Parade of Sail ride-ins on the 11th and ending with a sail to Gloucester on Tuesday, August 16. Go to ticket information for tours and day sails.
Parking is available at the two City parking garages, with a free shuttle to the Fish Pier. Go to the parking shuttle route map.
There is ADA-accessible parking at the Hanover Garage as well as the Foundry Garage, and limited space at the lot at Little Harbor School. All parking is first come/first served.
There is no parking allocated (ADA or otherwise) at the Peirce Island location due to issues pertaining to street configuration. Event goers should not seek parking options on Peirce Island, at the boat ramp, or on Four Tree Island. .
Two of three shuttles on the route will be ADA-equipped, with a goal to maintain a 20-minute maximum wait time. Note: There will be a 1.5 hour period each day (lunchtime) when only two shuttles are operating while the drivers take their breaks in succession. At those times, both of the running shuttles will be ADA-equipped, though the 20-minute target wait time goal will be temporarily more difficult to meet, and so naturally patience will be necessary and certainly appreciated.
