FIRST ANNUAL PORTSMOUTH SUSTAINABILITY FAIR 2008

The City of Portsmouth, Portsmouth Listens, the Portsmouth School District and the Piscataqua Sustainability Initiative are planning the first annual Portsmouth Sustainability Fair to take place on Saturday, April 19, 2008, from 10am – 4pm at the Portsmouth Middle School.

The fair will feature exhibitors, speakers, an organic food court, a scavenger hunt, and more. The goals are learning and action: visitors will be able to walk away with several things they can do to make their community more environmentally sustainable, whether it’s reducing waste, supporting local businesses or reducing dependence on fossil fuels and synthetics.

PLEASE BRING AND DONATE ONE OF SEVEN SPECIAL RECYCLABLES:
Cell phones, ink cartridges, old clothing and shoes, books, eye glasses, lithium batteries, and electronic devises.  The cell phones and ink cartridges will help raise funds for Sexual Assault Support Services, who will be staffing our entry gates.  Old clothing and shoes will be donated to Planetaid.  Eye glasses will be recycled to needy families and lithium batteries will be properly disposed of and kept out of landfills.  Here's the best deal of all - there is no fee for recycling electronic devices including old computers, TV's, or just about anything else you plug into the wall (except no appliances or items containing refrigerants like air conditioners).
