The Red Thread
By: Roderick Townley
"The Red Thread, a fantasy tale set in modern-day
Portsmouth, New Hampshire is told from the view of Dana Landgrave, a
sixteen-year-old girl. Dana is an average high school student with every
day worries. The only difference between Dana and the rest of her
schoolmates are her nightmares. Every night Dana has terrifying dreams,
always of the same boy and his dark murder. When the nightmares grow
more intense Dana's psychologist, Dr. Sprague theorizes Dana's dreams
are actually memories of a past life. He suggests hypnotizing Dana to
free her mind once and for all. When hypnotizing is successful Dana
finds herself as a young woman named Hannah Traxler living in medieval
England. This discovery leads not to answers, but more questions, which
eventually send Dana and her family to England. After their trip, Dana
discovers the true identities of her past lives and exposes the face of
the murderer.
The Red Thread is a marvelous book, which keeps you on your
toes throughout the adventure. Full of mystery and suspense, Dana's
story captivates all. Roderick Townley does an astounding job portraying
her and the rest of the citizens of Portsmouth. The descriptions of the
scenery would sweep anyone off their feet and the beauty of the
characters makes you feel as if you could reach out and touch them. I
highly recommend The Red Thread for those who enjoy a fast paced fantasy
story full of excitement, mystery and wonder."
