Position: Interpreter – High School (1 Year Position, Part or Full Time)
Requirements: Highly Qualified status, an associate degree, a minimum of
2 years college, or direct supervised experience working with
deaf/hard of hearing youth preferred
Familiar with Portsmouth School District and district
wide initiatives of personalized education and a focus on
literacy across the content areas all within a framework of
curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional
development and community
EIPA credentials (written and performance) or the equivalent of said credentials.
Experience in a variety of educational settings k-12.
Experience and/or skill tutoring deaf children in all subject area curriculum.
Knowledge of ASL and deaf culture.
Ability to modify curriculum when necessary.
Ability to work as a team member with deaf and hearing staff.
Familiarity with the IEP process.
Responsibilities: Responsible for interpreting and providing support in classes in mainstream and special education settings with one or more deaf/hard of hearing students.
Work as part of an interdisciplinary team
Perform related duties as assigned by the supervising teacher, Director, Principal and/or Coordinator
Salary: Per Paraprofessional Agreement
