Chestnut Street Project to Resume April 9th

April 9, 2018

Construction activity at the Chestnut Street block, which includes The Music Hall, will resume on Monday, April 9th. Currently, preparation work such as roof drain downspout connections, subsurface brick work on the sewer manholes and some brick work restoration is taking place.

Heavier construction for this project will include the installation of the new streetscape components including seat walls, site lighting, installation of granite banding at crosswalks, and decorative pavement.

Installation of the concrete pavers will require saw cutting the materials. This activity is generally noisy and dusty, and will take place over several weeks; every effort will be made to minimize disruption and complete the work as quickly as possible.

The final days of construction work will include the installation of the donated public art piece (the Arch) at the Congress and Chestnut Streets’ intersection. Please be advised that this work will require Chestnut Street to be closed to vehicular traffic until close to the end of project completion; all work is scheduled to be completed by June 8th.
