CITYWIDE CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
Project # 8: Daniel Street Streetscape Project Update
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Update
The City's contractor, John H. Lyman and Sons of Guilford, NH will begin reconstruction of all the sidewalks this week. Curbing work will be taking place from Market Square to Penhallow St and the brick work will be soon to follow. Five tree root protection systems will begin to be installed from Penhallow to Chapel and the tree planters will be finalized in front of the former Connie Bean building. We will also be paving in a lot of the remaining open patches in the street. At this time, we are anticipating three more weeks of construction activity. After Market Square day, work will resume for a few days to repave the street.
Meanwhile, the gas company is nearly complete working in Market Square and anticipates completion by Friday May 24th. The Portsmouth Water division has completed all of their work in the area.
New brick sidewalks, pedestrian scale lighting and trees will replace the existing sidewalks from Bow Street to Market Square. It is anticipated that the project be completed in June 2013, prior to the reopening of the Memorial Bridge. The construction for the Daniel Street Streetscape Project will be in conjunction with the ongoing street utility work.
