Project # 7 McDonough Street Phases 1 and 2

      Project update -04/21/11

PORTSMOUTH – The intersection of Islington and Cabot Streets may be partially closed today (Thursday, April 21) and tomorrow, and motorists leaving downtown will be detoured around the area where crews are scheduled to connect a new drain line.

Traffic leaving downtown may be routed down Rockingham Street to McDonough Street and then up Dover Street. A uniformed police officer will be at the site to help redirect traffic.

The work is part of the McDonough Street Reconstruction Project to install new sanitary and storm sewers in the McDonough Street neighborhood. Work began last year in the Dover, Salem, western McDonough and Cabot Street portions. Phase 2, which begins next week, includes Rockingham and Cornwall Streets and the next portion of McDonough from Cornwall to Cabot.

Anyone with questions can contact the Department of Public Works project manager, David Desfosses, at 766-1411.
