Reference: First Night Portsmouth
Date of Release: December 27th , 2005
Pro Portsmouth Inc., in conjunction with the City of Portsmouth, will be sponsoring “First Night Portsmouth” events throughout the downtown area, to include fireworks scheduled for 7:30 PM in front of the Portsmouth Middle School on Parrott Avenue. This year there will also be a parade starting at Market Square to Parrott Avenue beginning at 7:00 PM.
The Portsmouth Police Department will be conducting extra patrols of the city during New Years Eve, to include uniformed and plain clothes police officers.
Parrott Avenue will be closed to parking and traffic beginning at noon. Pleasant Street from Porter Street to Market Square will be closed from 5:00 PM to Midnight. The High Hanover Parking Garage will have a flat fee of $3 payable upon entry to the garage from 4:00 PM to 8:00PM.

This is a family oriented, Alcohol free event, and the Portsmouth Police Department will be strictly enforcing any violations so that the citizens can have a safe and enjoyable celebration.
