Reference: Attempted Murder / First Degree Assault Arrest
Date of Release: Wednesday, November 29, 2006
On 11/28/2006 at about 8:53 p.m., the Portsmouth Police Dispatch Center received an emergency call reporting that a domestic related assault that had occurred at a private residence on Fairview Ave. in Portsmouth. The Dispatch Center received additional information that a female was bleeding from a head wound and a male was bleeding from a stab wound to the chest.
Several Portsmouth Police Patrol Officers as well as paramedics and firefighters from the Portsmouth Fire Department responded to the scene. The male and female were transported to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital Emergency Room for treatment for their injuries.
Portsmouth Police Detectives responded and conducted further investigation of the incident.
As a result of the investigation by Portsmouth Police Patrol Officers and Detectives, Heather AUSTIN, age 36 was arrested and charged with the offenses of Attempt to Commit Murder and First Degree Assault.
AUSTIN is being held at the Portsmouth Police Department pending arraignment in the Portsmouth District Court on November 29, 2006.
