Reference: DWI Saturation Patrol
Date of Release: November 24, 2006
On the night of November 22, 2006 the Portsmouth Police Department and the New Hampshire State Police collaborated on a DWI saturation patrol. Five Troopers from the State Police along with six officers from the Portsmouth Police conducted traffic enforcement throughout the City from 7:00pm to 3:00am with the specific goal of apprehending drunk drivers and providing a safe environment for the holiday evening. The Portsmouth Police utilized their Drug Recognition Expert Unit (DRE) for this operation. DRE Officers are specially trained in detecting drivers who are impaired by alcohol or any other drug.
The Saturation Patrol stopped over 55 cars and arrested seven people, six for DWI and one for Reckless Operation. The arrestees were as follows:

Three of the DWI arrests were second offense drivers and may face jail time. One of the DWI arrests was for a driver under the influence of Marijuana. The Portsmouth Police and New Hampshire State Police wish to thank all of those who chose to drive responsibly over this Thanksgiving Holiday.
