I.D. Fraud Semiar
On Thursday, November 8th the Portsmouth Police Department, in collaboration with the NH Attorney General, will host a seminar on identity theft and fraud. The presentation will be especially valuable to senior citizens since they are often victimized by this fast growing crime.
The seminar will be held in the Levenson Community Room at the Portsmouth Public Library. It will start at 10:30AM and finish at noon.
Topics will include:
Identity Theft: An overview of identity stealing methods, tips on how to minimize the risk of identity theft, which federal and state agencies can help and a list of resources for victims.
Mail, Telemarketing and Internet Fraud: What to do with junk mail, how to get off of some of those lists, how to avoid being the victim of a scam and what to do when you receive an unwanted telephone solicitation.
Protecting Seniors: Why seniors are more vulnerable to scams and how to protect them against financial exploitation.
Portsmouth Crime Stoppers has generously donated the coffee and pastries that will be served.
