Reference: Motor Vehicle Accident on Maplewood Ave and Cutts Road
Date of Release: Saturday October 20, 2007.
On Friday October 19, 2007 at 8:57am the Portsmouth Police along with the Portsmouth Fire Department responded to Maplewood Ave at the intersection of Cutts Road for a personal injury accident. Preliminary investigation reveals that
Ella Giampa age 83
County Farm Road
Dover, NH
was driving a Tan 2002 Toyota Corolla on Cutts Road entering the intersection onto Maplewood Ave. According to witnesses, Giampa drove through the stop signed intersection and collided with
Maria Anderson age 30
Gosling Road
Portsmouth, NH
diving a Blue 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass who was traveling into town upon Maplewood Ave. The resulting collision caused serious possibly life threatening injuries to Ella Giampa and she is currently being treated at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Giampa had one passenger in the car who was 80 years old and whose name we will not be releasing. She was treated at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital with non life threatening injuries. Maria Anderson was also transported to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
This investigation continues by the Portsmouth Police Accident Investigation Team along with the Rockingham County Attorneys Office. The accident and subsequent investigation caused this section of roadway to be closed for traffic until 4:00pm. No criminal charges have been filed. On October 20, 2007, as a result of the above mentioned motor vehicle accident, Ella Giampa has succumbed to her injuries at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
