Additionally, this overnight para-military style weekend, focused on leadership training, team building, and the importance of resisting negative peer pressure. Each morning they formed up in uniform to raise the flag and on Sunday September 11th, the formation paid a special tribute to the events that have happened within their lives and the people who are in harms way protecting all of us.

This was the 10th year that the event has run and those teams finishing within the top 3 will receive an invitation to attend the New England Explorers Competition held next June in Massachusettes. Other notable accomplishments that weekend were
  • 2nd place overall--Milford Mass Police Cadets
  • 3rd place overall- Dover NH Police Cadets
  • 13 teams entered and completed all exercises
The Police Explorer program has run continually with the Portsmouth Police for over 20 years. Designed to give the High School aged youth a first hand look at law enforcement as a possible career path, the 12 members of the Post meet once a week at the PD and engage in Police style training and participate in the ride along program. They attend a week long Police Cadet Academy in the summer and are deeply involved in community service projects in the local area.
