Reference: 1st Degree Assault arrest
Date of Release: September 5th, 2005
On Sunday, September 4th, 2005 at approximately 10:00 PM, Portsmouth Police Department officers working in the downtown area responded to a fight on the sidewalk in front of the Daniel Street Tavern located at 111 Daniel Street.
As a result of an investigation conducted by Officer Eric Kinsman, the following
person was arrested for 1st Degree Assault, a Felony, contrary to NH RSA 631:1 and Simple Assault, a class ‘A’ Misdemeanor, contrary to NH RSA 631:2-a:
Joshua Hilyard
Date of birth 07/06/82
8 Dwyer Street
Merrimack, New Hampshire 03054.
It is alleged that Mr. Hilyard punched a victim in the face and hit the victim on the head with a glass bottle, causing a laceration to the victim’s arm and cuts to his ear.
This assault was not domestic related.
Mr. Hilyard is scheduled to appear for an arraignment at Portsmouth District Court on Tuesday, Sept. 6th, 2005 at 8:30 AM.
The Portsmouth Police Department will continue with proactive, directed patrols of the downtown area, and reminds the public that crimes can be reported anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 431-1199.
