Reference: Thursday, August 17th, 2006 - Motor Vehicle Accident
On August 17, 2006 at approx 8:10am, the Portsmouth Police Department was notified of a personal injury accident at the intersection of Sagamore Ave and South Street. Portsmouth Police responded along with the Portsmouth Fire Department. One vehicle involved in this accident was the City of Portsmouth Animal Control Officers vehicle.
Preliminary investigation shows that the Animal Control Officers vehicle owned by the City of Portsmouth,
1999 Ford Ranger Pick-up
driven by
Animal Control Officer Patti Tate, age 46
of Barrington, N.H.
was traveling westerly on South Street thru the intersection of Sagamore Ave. At this same time another vehicle
2005 GMC Pick-up
driven by
Elmer Richardson, age 72
of Eliot, Maine
was traveling southerly on Sagamore Ave. The vehicles collided directly within the intersection with Animal Control Officer Patti Tate being injured and transported to the Portsmouth Hospital with non life threatening injuries. Mr. Richardson stated he was not injured in this accident.
The accident is being investigated by members of the Portsmouth Police Accident Investigation Team. Preliminary on site results suggest that excessive speed was not a factor and that there was no illegal drug or alcohol use. The investigation is centering around a possible traffic light violation.
