Reference: August 11, 2006 - Hate crime arrest
On Thursday, August 10th, 2006, the following individual was served an arrest warrant by the Portsmouth Police Department:
Elijah P. Wallace
Date of birth 03/20/83
Currently incarcerated at the Rockingham County Jail
Brentwood, N.H.
Mr. Wallace was charged with one count of Criminal Threatening, a misdemeanor with an enhanced penalty attached to it due to the nature of the threat. It is alleged that during the month of July, Mr. Wallace sent anti-Semitic letters that referenced the Jewish community in Portsmouth. After an extensive investigation by the Portsmouth Police Department’s Bureau of Investigations in conjunction with Rockingham County Jail authorities, Mr. Wallace was identified as the suspect.
Mr. Wallace is currently incarcerated at the Rockingham County Jail for unrelated crimes. He is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth District Court for an August 14th arraignment on this charge.
