Reference: UPDATE: Service Station Credit Card Fraud
In an earlier press release (dated August 04, 2005), the Portsmouth Police Department released that it is currently investigating a series of incidents regarding the fraudulent usage of credit cards at an Islington Street gasoline service station, occurring during the month of July 2005. The earlier press release sought to identify additional victims of this fraud.
In order to further this investigation the Portsmouth Police Department is now identifying the gasoline service station as the:
Ampet Station, 921 Islington, St., Portsmouth, NH
A suspect has been identified as an employee of Ampet. Management is cooperating with the investigation and the suspected employee is not working at the station at this time. The suspect has not been arrested or charged at this time, pending the completion of the investigation.
The Portsmouth Police are still seeking additional victims in this case. It has now known that some incidents may have also occurred during the month of June 2005, as well.
Customers of the Ampet, are encouraged to check the credit card statement for false or over charges and contact Detective John Peracchi of the Portsmouth Police Department @ (603)436-2511.
