On Monday, July 30, 2007 at 11:20 AM, the Portsmouth Police Department arrested the following individual:
Elvin A. Mayo
Date of birth 01/20/51
No fixed address
Mr. Mayo was arrested for the following:
Two counts of: Registration of Sex Offender/Duty to Report (both felonies),
One count of: Driving After Revocation (violation).
The two felony counts were the result of an investigation that led to an arrest warrant from the Portsmouth Police Department alleging that Mr. Mayo has not registered as a sex offender as required by law. This morning, Mr. Mayo was observed by Portsmouth Police driving a vehicle in Portsmouth, and he was taken into custody for these charges. Additionally, it was found that Mr. Mayo’s license to drive had been previously revoked. After being taken into custody, Mr. Mayo was processed and arraigned at the Portsmouth District Court.
Mr. Mayo is currently being held at the Rockingham County Jail on $50,000 cash bail and $25,000 personal recognizance bail for the felonies, and $500 cash bail for the violation. He is scheduled to appear again at the Portsmouth District Court for a probable cause hearing on August 7, 2007 at 8:45 AM.
