Reference: July 19, 2006 - Graffiti
The Portsmouth Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in solving several recent cases of criminal mischief involving graffiti throughout the city.
The crime of Criminal Mischief, particularly Graffiti, is often under reported. We urge victims of these crimes to report them to the police immediately, so that evidence can be properly documented, photographed and processed.
The City of Portsmouth and the Chamber of Commerce have a graffiti removal initiative with ServPro of the Seacoast for Portsmouth business owners. ServPro will provide cost estimates within one business day, and removal services within three business days at discounted prices to Portsmouth business owners. All transactions that occur are between ServPro and the individual businesses, and they can be reached by calling 433-4300.
Those individuals who are arrested for these crimes may face felony charges, depending on the cost to repair the damage to property. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Bureau of Investigative Services at 436-2511, or they can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 431-1199. Any information received that leads to an arrest may result in a monetary reward.
