Reference: Fatal Fire Found to Be Accidental
Fire Chief Chris LeClaire, Police Chief Mike Magnant, and State Fire Marshal J. William Degnan announce that the fire at 132 Middle Street, Apartment #2 in Portsmouth, NH has been found to be accidental. The cause of the fire was determined to be combustibles left on the stove.
The fire was reported at 2:37 AM on July 2, 2006 and upon arrival the Portsmouth Fire Department had smoke and fire showing from apartment #2. The occupant, Ian Esperian DOB 10/11/81 of apartment #2 was located in the kitchen area where he had succumbed to the by-products of combustion. Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Thomas Andrew has identified the victim as Ian Esperian and the cause of death to be smoke inhalation.
