Date of Release: June 5, 2007
Reference: DUI Task Force 2007
Once again the summer is upon us and Chief Michael Magnant of the Portsmouth Police Department is proud to announce the initiation of an intensified enforcement effort in regard to impaired drivers in Portsmouth and the Seacoast of New Hampshire. We want to make it clear: We will have zero tolerance for drunk driving on NH Seacoast streets.
The New Hampshire seacoast area Chiefs of Police, New Hampshire State Police Troop- A, the New Hampshire Bureau of Liquor Enforcement and the Rockingham County Sheriffs Department are joining together to form a New Hampshire Seacoast DUI Task Force under the leadership of Chief Magnant of the Portsmouth Police Department and Lieutenant Robert Quinn of New Hampshire State Police Troop A. Their common goal is simply stated: To arrest drunk drivers around the seacoast.
Alcohol or drug impaired driving is a crime that often has fatal results. One person dies every 33 minutes in alcohol related crashes around the United States.
Expect to see a significant enforcement effort this summer in the New Hampshire Seacoast. The Seacoast DUI Task Force will conduct numerous multiple-officer DUI Saturation Patrols on roadways throughout the seacoast on any given night. In Portsmouth, we will conduct more Sobriety Checkpoints and continue to take impaired drivers off the streets.
Please keep our seacoast streets safe. We encourage you to make the responsible choice…have a sober designated driver, take a cab or call a friend.
To report an impaired driver any where in New Hampshire please dial 911.
