Reference: Suspicious Activity @ Portsmouth, NH Public Library
On May 29, 2007 at 2:47 PM, Portsmouth Police officers responded to the Portsmouth Public Library for the report of a man with a gun.
The response stemmed from a report moments before to the Portsmouth Middle School Resource Officer by three juvenile females who stated that an adult male had approached one of the 14 year old juveniles and asked some possibly inappropriate questions. The young lady felt uncomfortable and afraid. She reported to police that she believed the male had a gun.
Officers conducted a search of the building and did locate the suspect male. A search of the subject revealed no weapons. A subsequent search of the library premises conducted by officers and library employees, also revealed no guns.
At this time, no charges are expected on the suspect. Follow up interviews are being conducted by the Portsmouth Police Department Bureau of Investigative Services.
