Reference: Police Cadets Seeking New Members at Open House on Wed. June 1, 2005.

The Cadets are currently accepting applications to join the Portsmouth Police Cadet Post, and will be hosting an open house at the police department on Wednesday evening from 6:00pm to 9:00pm on June 1st. Prospective cadets and their parents are encouraged to attend.
Applicants should be between the ages of 14 and 20, and should have an interest in a career in law enforcement, the military, or a related field. Applicants need not be residents of Portsmouth. The program is coeducational and focuses not only on teaching law enforcement skills and tactics, but also on developing young adults into responsible community leaders. The Cadets meet to train every Wednesday night from 6:00pm to 9:30pm at the Portsmouth Police Department. The Explorer Cadets are a part of the Boy Scouts of America.
Those attending the meeting will be given the chance to register for the NH Police Cadet Academy this June. This is an outstanding training opportunity. Numerous former Portsmouth Police Cadets are currently serving as police officers in New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. Past Cadets are also serving in the military, and in federal law enforcement. Applications are available at the Portsmouth Police Department.
