Reference: Portsmouth Police Explorers
The Portsmouth Police Department Explorer Post won first place at the annual Explorer Weekend Challenge, held this past weekend in Gilmanton, New Hampshire.
Sixteen Explorer teams from across New Hampshire, and one from Massachusetts, competed in ten events to include:
Obstacle course, motor vehicle stops, firearms, drill and ceremony, evidence recovery, cruiser push, building search, responding to calls and a written exam.
The team consisted of: Capt. Jon Haley, Sgt. Shawn McGuiness, Sgt. Cam Holt-Corti and Officer Kyle Brake. The Portsmouth Police Explorer Post is coordinated by High School Resource Officer Robert Munson, and is open to teenagers who are interested in law enforcement.
The Explorers volunteer during police and community events, receive classroom and hands-on instruction from Portsmouth Police Officers, and participate in camping and outdoor team building trips.
