Reference:   Citizen Police Academy for Senior Citizens

The Portsmouth Police Department, in conjunction with Crime Stoppers, will be hosting a free, three part information series at the Portsmouth Public Library.

The goals of the Citizen Police Academy for Senior Citizens are:

  • To bring senior citizens closer to their police departments.
  • To bring a greater understanding of the role of the Police officer in the community.
  • To provide a forum to address community concerns direct to the Police Departments.
  • To expand the knowledge of laws and police procedure of the participants.
  • To increase the public awareness of crime prevention techniques.

 

The seminars will be held on Thursdays at 9:30 AM in the Portsmouth Public Library Levinson Room. The first seminar will be November 12th.

Pastries, coffee and juice will be provided.

Free transportation from any Portsmouth Housing Authority property will be available.

The first seminar will be November 12th and will include a presentation on Fraud Awareness from the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office. Future seminar topics will include a police canine demonstration, personal safety, a Taser demonstration, virtual tours and presentations by local community resources relevant to senior citizens.

Please bring your outdated prescription medication to any of the seminars.
