Reference: Sobriety Checkpoint Arrests
On Friday night, August 21st 2009, the Portsmouth Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Route 33 near Griffin Road. Also participating were police officers from the University of New Hampshire and the N.H. Liquor Commission Bureau of Enforcement.
Two hundred and thirty-eight drivers were screened and three were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. One male was also arrested for Driving without a license as well as License Prohibitions (by possessing a fake license).

All four of the people arrested were released on personal recognizance bail and are scheduled to be arraigned in the Portsmouth District Court at 8:30 AM on September 14th, 2009.
Drunk driving puts everybody at risk. The Portsmouth Police Department will continue to vigorously drunk driving laws and will use DWI Hunter and Saturation Patrols throughout the summer.
