With more than 130 outlets licensed to sell alcohol in Portsmouth alone, along with concert venues, and scores of seaside restaurants from here to Seabrook, how do area police keep the New Hampshire Seacoast a safe, family-oriented resort destination? A Zero Tolerance for DUI, public drunkenness and disorder is one way.
Another reason the New Hampshire seacoast remains inviting is the Seacoast DUI Task Force, which came into being in 2005 for the expressed purpose of impacting DUI accidents numbers, as well as Underage Drinking, and alcohol-related crime and disorder incidents. The media is invited to attend a press conference to be held on Thursday, July 10th at 9:15 a.m. at the New Castle Coast Guard Station. Area Chiefs from several DUI Task Force member towns will update the public on the impact of this regional effort on DUIs in particular, and other alcohol-related crime and disorder as well. Find out what is working and what the concerns are for the future. Chief Mike Magnant of Portsmouth, Chief Eddie Edwards’ office at Liquor Enforcement, and the New Hampshire State Police will have input for the press. Other area Police Departments will also be represented.
